Talent Acquisition Services

Talent Acquisition offers a variety of services including recruiting and direct sourcing for jobs; executive recruitment for senior level roles; expertise during the onboarding and engagement time period within an employee’s first year; outreach to local high schools, community colleges, and other community-based organizations to create a talent pipeline for Virginia Tech; and data and reporting to showcase trends in hiring and recruitment for leaders across campus.

The Talent Acquisition team can help with customizing and setting delivery schedules based on your team’s needs. Executive Recruitment

Our executive search services are the newest addition to our menu of options and will play a key role in meeting the university’s leadership recruitment needs. The team will provide comprehensive, end-to-end support for hiring leadership roles, allowing departments to stay focused on their core missions while ensuring that leadership positions are filled with top-tier global talent.

Our team employs a high-touch, structured approach that includes detailed stakeholder consultations, strategic advertising, proactive sourcing, and thorough candidate evaluations. Leveraging deep organizational knowledge, we ensure that each candidate's skills and values align precisely with departmental and university goals. This collaborative process supports the university’s mission while empowering hiring departments to make the final selection.

Onboarding

Once hired, providing immediate opportunities for new employees to build relationships and immerse themselves in Virginia Tech’s culture creates the foundation for long-term employment. We have numerous onboarding and engagement resources that departments can use.


Outreach

Our team is deeply committed to community outreach through a comprehensive, multi-level approach. At the K-12 level, we foster collaborations with local high schools in Pulaski, Radford, Giles, Floyd, and Montgomery County, participating in career fairs, organizing field trips and campus, facility tours, in school speaking engagements, and offering workshops on interview and resume skills.

We also provide valuable summer internships that give students hands-on experience. A highlight of our efforts is the annual Tech Tracks program, which invites 11th graders from the area to explore potential careers at Virginia Tech. This program offers in-depth exposure to various departments, including Advancement, Dining and Hospitality, Facilities, IT, and Sciences, allowing students to gain an understanding of the diverse career opportunities available at Virginia Tech.

At the post-secondary level, we extend our outreach to local community colleges and workforce development boards through career and job fairs, enhancing the pipeline of talent to our university. Our internal partnerships with the Virginia Tech Center for Educational Networks and Impacts and Virginia Career Services, and Pamplin College of Business further amplify our commitment to community engagement and student career readiness. By integrating efforts across various educational stages and collaborating with both external and internal partners, we ensure a holistic approach to talent development and acquisition, supporting students from early education through their professional journeys.

Talent Acquisition provides recruitment options that allow departments to consult with recruitment professionals on roles that may fall into one or more of the categories below:

Based on a consultation held with the HR representative, hiring manager, and any other stakeholders, the Talent Acquisition team will customize an approach specific to the department's needs and the role.
