Legal Services Plan
Legal Resources offers a comprehensive Legal Services Plan for you and your qualified dependents. The plan provides 100 percent coverage for you, your spouse, and qualified dependents (children up to the age of 19, or 26 if a full-time student) for the most often needed legal services. For $17 a month, you have access to a network of top-rated law firms in your area and nationwide, with coverage in all 50 states. Whether your matter is for an everyday legal need, or a result of an unexpected event, you and your family are protected from the high cost of attorney fees.
Employees can enroll within their first 60 days of employment as a new hire or during September of each year when the university holds annual open enrollment for optional benefits
You pay no attorney fees for all fully covered services, which include will preparation, traffic court, real estate matters, divorce, billing disputes, and more. Pre-existing legal matters and less common legal needs are also covered at a 25 percent discount.

New Identity Theft Protection Benefit
Starting Oct. 1, 2024, Virginia Tech introduced a new benefit focusing on Identity Theft Protection, provided by Legal Resources. For more information, please refer to the brochure and overview below.
How To Enroll
New employees have 60 days from their date of hire to enroll in the plan/plans. Changes in coverage may only be made during optional benefits open enrollment, which is held in September each year, or a qualifying event.

If you are past 60 days from your hire date, the vendor holds an open enrollment period for employees, which is typically held in September with a benefits effective date of Oct. 1. Communications are distributed before this period to alert employees to their enrollment opportunity.

Once enrolled, Legal Resources will select the law firm closest to your home zip code. Members can change law firms at any time.
