Before You Log In

During the Plan Phase, in the Planning step, you and your supervisor document goals for the 2026 cycle. The template is based on the requirements in the Faculty Handbook for A/P faculty annual evaluations. This document guides you through each section of your plan in PageUp. As the system does not notify either party when updates are made, we recommend drafting your goals first, then meeting with your supervisor to review and finalize before approving. Supervisors, your direct report’s FAR will appear under the My Team Performance Reviews widget on your dashboard, listed by employee name.

Getting Started

  1. Log into PageUp Talent Management at virginiatech.pageuppeople.com using your Virginia Tech credentials.
  2. On your dashboard, locate the My Performance Reviews widget and click on the plan title: 2026 CY AP Faculty Activity Report (FAR).

Your Plan Tabs

Once inside your plan, you will see the following tabs across the top. Review them in order.

Orientation to the FAR template. Review this tab first — it explains what is included in your plan, what each section expects, and how the cycle works.

Pulled in from your position description at the time of launch. These day-to-day tasks can be edited to focus on the non-negotiables and what it means to be exceptional in each job duty. This tab may not be included in your FAR depending on your unit. Additional Job Duties cannot be added during the Touchpoints phase.

Add 3–5 SMART goals related to your job duties, projects, and initiatives. The goal title should reflect the outcome expected, not the task. Your measure box may include purpose, success metrics, timeline, current status, resources needed, and how you will assess your progress. Goals are written at the meets expectations level, but an exceptional statement describes what going above and beyond looks like.

Add professional aspirations related to your skills, knowledge, abilities, and opportunities. This section is for you individually. It’s recommended to include milestones in the measure box. As an A/P faculty member, you are expected to keep up with new knowledge and trends in your area or industry.

Categorize your contributions individually or in themes to the Virginia Tech community, or leave the block open to capture them as the year unfolds. As an A/P faculty member, you are expected to have an intentional impact on the VT community. You likely already do the following: mentoring others, presenting to a team, serving on a search committee, participating in the A/P Senate, volunteering as a Hokie Wellness Champion, and more.

This section will be completed later in the cycle during the Assessment phase, it is not available during the Plan phase.

Review your plan summary, check deadlines for each phase, and take the option to download a PDF of your current plan. When you are ready, select I Acknowledge to confirm the plan. Both you and your supervisor confirm the plan before it moves forward to the next phase.

What to Know About the Process

During the Touchpoints phase, you can add additional Professional Goals, Development and Growth opportunities, and Additional Contributions and Service as priorities shift throughout the year—this is not the end. The planning phase for the calendar year timeframe spans two fiscal years (end of one and beginning of the other), and the FAR template is designed to flex with you as budgets, projects, and people change. Job Duties and Professional Goals are individually rated on a 3-point scale and contribute to the Cumulative Assessment rating. Development and Growth and Additional Contributions and Service contribute to the overall Cumulative Assessment rating rather than being rated individually.
